Onyx Apartment Hotel
Francois Du Plessis Interiors was tasked with the interior design of this 130 bedroom aparthotel, plus all public spaces, which include 2 restaurants, pool, gym and bar.
The Design
All the apartments/ hotel rooms at the Onyx look out onto the iconic Cape Town foreshore, so together with Francois, we decided to reference three landmarks that could be found within a 3 kilometer radius of this view. Professional photographs were taken and large, oversized wallpapers designed that appear abstract but on close inspection can be found within your view.
The Execution
We chose to use our UV printed seamless wallpaper which is commercial type ll and perfect for hotel bedrooms due to its resilient nature and wipeable properties. This same wallpaper was used in the pool area as it can withstand high levels of moisture and the odd splash of water.
The Onyx Hotel has been featured in a number of magazines and publications thanks to the incredible work of Francois Du Plessis. It is also one of the most popular hotels in Cape Town due to its highly Instagrammable interiors.
